The Xiangjia class submarines (Chinese: 驤麚級核潛艇; pinyin: Xiāngjiā jí héqiántǐng) is the latest Jeunese class of submarines.
There was a brief controversy when a Willinkian newspaper alleged that the class' telescoping cameras were angled "to allow the Jeunese to see through it properly with their slanty eyes".
Design
The Xiangjia class incorporates several new features, though the typical X-fin style of various Jeunese submarines has been reused. For one, there is a dedicated staging area for the Jeunese Navy's Special Actions Detachment teams, positioned in a space both above and between the bunk area and the bridge. The side-mounted, chin and sail sonar arrays provide vastly improved coverage over previous designs. An optional towed array can unveil the blind spot behind the vessel. Cameras mounted on masts replace the periscopes of older designs, piping the signal down to the bridge. The Xiangjia also has masts dedicated to electronic warfare, and sensitive hydrophones to passively listen in on contacts.
