Nuclear weapons

Trawach has never had the need to arm itself with nuclear weapons, either tactical or strategic. While the nation has numerous nuclear power plants and the ability to produce weapons-grade plutonium and uranium, the nation has either used the materials for energy or sold them to other energy companies.

In 2007, the Trawacan congress debated the necessity of a nuclear weapons program. One argument stipulated that the hostile environment of the current world situation and widespread proliferation and use of nuclear weapons made an unarmed Trawach vulnerable to nuclear attack or conquest through the use or threatened use of nuclear weaponry. Another stated that the probability of using a nuclear weapon in any situation was so minuscule that the funding would be better used for non-military programs.

After seven weeks of heated debate, the official government stance on nuclear weapons had not changed. However, lawmakers left open the option to begin a nuclear weapons program solely for self-defense.

In mid 2009, as part of the Trawach First Defense Strategy, the government officially purchased 100 ASMP missiles and 100 Genie missiles.

Uranium stockpiling

Early in 2008 the Trawacan government issued a statement stating that the military would begin stockpiling a small amount of uranium for analysis and future programs. The total amount stockpiled was 100 kilograms, divided up and sent to three undisclosed facilities. It is unclear what the military and government intend to do with the uranium.

Aquisition

101 ASMP missiles were procured from x, a nation in x. One of the ASMP missiles was involved in the February 2010 underground test. An additional 100 AIR-2 Genie missiles were also procured from x.

2010 test

On 6 February 2010, the Trawacan Air Force, in cooperation with the army and navy detonated a 150 kiloton ASMP warhead in an underground test. The testing site was an uninhabited island north of Tyrovene. The test was successful and led to the ASMP and AIR-2 being designated as "in service."

Delivery

Trawach's ASMP missiles are delivered via Rafale M carrier-borne fighters belonging to the navy. The AIR-2 missiles are delivered via air force-owned F-16's and YA-42 Corsaires. The Trawacan MiG-31 fleet can also carry AIR-2 missiles through minor modifications.

Chemical weapons

Trawach experimented with different riot control agents in the mid-1990's. The military adopted CS, CN and BZ as official riot control agents. These weapons are in the form of hand grenades, shoulder-mounted dispensers and 12 gauge, 37mm and 40mm projectiles. They are divided amongst diplomatic missions and military outposts.

Biological weapons

Trawach experimented with Magnaporthe grisea in the early 2000's as a means of destroying the crops of potential enemies. Official government documents indicate the stockpiles were divided and kept in safe storage; but were not destroyed. A statement released in late 2009 stated that the military was continuing research and development. However, it is not likely the stockpiles will be weaponized.

In early 2008 the military announced it was beginning research on CHIKV. The CHIKV samples were isolated from native Aedes mosquitoes collected and bred in controlled conditions. The military also announced that it was under close supervision from the Trawacan Centers for Disease and Epidemic Control (TCDEC). In addition, the TCDEC and military released plans to eradicate the CHIKV disease from the wild completely by 2015. No stocks of the CHIKV have been weaponzied.
