History

The Naval Infantry has been around in one form or another since before Cotland was established in 957, serving as warriors embarked on the longboats that raided the coasts throughout Haven and elsewhere. However, it wasn't until the year 1549 after the first civil war and organization of a proper military force that the Naval Infantry was organized when the 96th Regiment of Foot was reflagged to become the 1st Regiment of Naval Infantry, a unit which still exists today as the 1. Naval Infantry Regiment, 5. Naval Infantry Division. These troops were embarked aboard Cottish warships to defend against pirates that had begun raiding Cottish gold transports, and had their baptism of fire on June 6th, 1550 when the Cottish galleon Lykken was attacked by pirates. The pirates were successfully repelled by the twenty Naval Infantrymen that were embarked, and June 6th is still celebrated by the Naval Infantry as Baptism Day.

In 1852, the Naval Infantry were predominant in the Cottish campaign against The Peoples Freedom, where a large-scale amphibious assault was successfully carried out in the region of Greater Dienstad. The Naval Infantry distinguished themselves in this fierce campaign, earning seventy-nine War Crosses in the four year long conflict. A few decades later, during the Pan-Havenic Twenty Year's War, the Naval Infantry would shine once again, fighting in many of the battles Cotland was involved in.

Over the years, the Naval Infantry have grown and developed along with the times and new technologies to become the modern, capable fighting force that it is today.

Organization

The Naval Infantry is subordinate to the Admiralty in Eeobroht, the Royal Ministry for the Defence of the Realm, and His Majesty's Council.
