The President of Garimidia, officially the President of the Federative Republic of Garimidia, is Garimidia's elected head of state and head of government. The President serves a term of 3 years which, constitutionally, is only renewable once. Only once before has an outgoing President refused to step down; that was in 1980 which caused the 1980 Garimidian constitutional crisis.
The President's powers and responsibilities are provided by the Garimidian Constitution; the latest version having been adopted in 1967. In particular, Articles I - V cover the executive branch and the Presidential Secreteriat, which the President heads.
