Oxen Cup 6 was one of the largest, non-Cup of Harmony, Non-World Cup, football tourneys completed, with 22 nations battling it out for the championship, after World Cup 40. The format of Oxen Cup 5, 4 group stages, followed by knockouts and repecharges until each team had a specific rank, returned for this tourney. This tourney was inactive after World Cup 39, as Sel Appa hosted the Turtle Cup, in an attempt to alternate the location of these types of tourneys.
After the 3rd places in Groups A & C, had their results vs. the 6th place team in those groups dropped, to ensure a fair record comparison amongst the 4 teams. The Top 2 in each group and 2 best 3rd places overall had a bye into the 3rd round, and are marked in Green had a bye into the 3rd round, and are marked in Green. The other teams were placed directly in the 2nd round, after each round, the losers dropped into the repecharge brackets. (Groups A & C each had 6 teams, while Groups B & D each had 5 teams.)
