The Empire of the Twin Thrones of Karita, also known simply as Karita, is a federalized imperial monarchy whose mainland is in northwest Haven with land on nearly every major landmass in the region. It is notable for its massive economy and military power.

Government and Politics
National policy is heavily centralized on the Twin Thrones and most legislation introduced to the Imperial Senate originates from the seat of power. The Emperor and Empress have direct and unfettered control of the Services (the bureaucratic bodies concerned with everyday administration of the Empire), including the privilege of the purse. However, any proposed budgets must be confirmed by both the House of Lords and House of the People. The active armed forces are also under the direct command of the Twin Thrones proper, although day-to-day operations are delegated to the Joint Strategic Command and any outright declarations of war must go before the Imperial Senate for voting (but without the power of the purse this is merely an observed formality and not a necessity).
Within the Imperial Senate there are four major parties (Centrists, Crown Loyalists, Conservatives, and Liberals) plus around a dozen smaller native parties that lobby for the interests of their respective Duchies. At present there are fourteen thousand and a quarter delegates in the House of the People and 918 peers in the House of Lords. While public elections every five years see to some vacillation in the House of the People (although there is a recent trend towards the Crown Loyalists and Centrists), the Crown Loyalists have a near iron lock on the House of the Lords; among whose membership includes Primus Deva Chandrasekhar, the leader of the entire Imperial Senate.
Administrative Divisions
At the local level the Imperium is divided into fifteen semi-autonomous Duchies, which in turn control forty-three Marches, then 172 Cantons, and finally 688 Baronies.
