The Harnite Revolution arose some time after the democratization of Altane, and soon the revolutionary cause drew on many supporters, various communist, and republican groups. The leader of these groups was called Louis Tarakot a descendant of a former traitor who sought to overthrow the Monarchy. Louis Tarakot was the chief revolutionary and planned the Revolution and was believed to be a closet Communist who intended to sneak in a Communist Dictatorship after the war and after hanging the Emperor in revenge for his ancestors death on charges of treason. Tarakot was under suspicion when the Altanian Inquisition linked him to the revolutionary groups. Soon after Harnite was taken the Revolutionary offensive was gaining momentum as the will of the Revolutionary cause seemed unbreakable, while the Monarchists felt hopeless that the Empire was doomed.
The Revolutionary offensive was so successful by the 10th year they had finally reached the Imperial Captiol of Raultome, and Tarakot was preparing a glorious march into Raultome and set up his new office, but was disappointed when Adam I successfully defended the Capitol reinvigorating the Monarchist cause beginning the turning point in the war. Eventually the Monarchist forces surrounded Tarakot in Harnite and cut him off from the outlying Revolutionary-held lands and successfully took the city and the Revolutionary armies were forced to accepting an Unconditional Surrender. Tarakot was captured after breifly attempting to hold Reginald Diemil hostage and offering not to kill him if he was let free, Tarakot and Diemil were tried and unsuprisingly Diemil turned on Tarakot offering evidence against him which lead to Tarakot's death sentence and a lesser sentence for Diemil.

The Revolt in Harnite
The Growth of the Underground Revolutionary movement was unbeknowst to the Imperial Government was much higher than expected, there were those who were captured by the Altanian Inquisition but none of them yielded the name of the leader of the movement but did give hints as to who it was. The hints led to the same person, Louis Tarakot who was always careful to avoid suspicion until now. The Altanian Inquisition agents who were on the case of finding the leader of the Revolutionaries sent a report to their superioirs of their main suspect, and they were ordered to seach Tarakot's home in Harnite it was their they found the plans to the revolt in Harnite. The Agents ran like madmen to alert the local authorities as the date of the revolt was that very day, and when they reached the Count of Harnite who immediately ordered his men on alert and tried to contact the capitol but to no avail as the Revolutionaries had already seized the Communications station and were marching on the Count's Estate. The Local garrison was soon overwhelmed by the massive number of armed Revolutionaries.
Harnite fell, the Count and the Agents were immediately executed by Tarakot who shot them. Upon seizing Harnite, Tarakot made an announcement to the nation declaring himself President of the Altanian Revolutionary Republic and declared Adam I a Pretender holding onto a lost throne. He finally called upon all Revolutionaries to seize the momentum and seize Altane. This was countered by an announcement by the Supreme Chancellor of the time, Charles Treff who's speech claimed the Empire had not failed and would live on, but his speech was not as compelling as Tarakot's as he could not match his Charisma. From then on, it was war...
The Revolutionary Uprising and Offensive
The Revolutionary uprising took the North of Altane by force, many cities fell to revolutionary uprisings and executed their local Aristocrats. In some case some aristocrats forsaked the Empire and declared their support for the Republic, however remaining Loyalist Forces in the North attempted to crack down on disloyal cities but were ultimately defeated once the ranks of the Revolutionary Army surged and began their campaign to destroy the Empire. The Imperial Legions of the Empire were in a shambles trying to reorganise and counter the now advancing revolutionary armies and the first battles of the Revolution would begin...
The war in the North was bloody for the remaining loyalist cities who were butchered by the Revolutionary army. The Imperial Legions began marching North towards the cities that have been sending out calls for aid, but as the Imperial Forces marched North they were ambushed by Revolutionary troops and the Frontlines were established by the charging Revolutionaries who forced back the advancing, now retreating Imperial Armies.
The Resolve of the Revolutionaries and the low Morale of the Imperial Legions was depicted on the field as time and time again the lines were being push toward the Imperial Captiol of Raultome, the home of the Kuritan Dynasty. There were prolonged sieges including the first bombings of Raultome, but the actual siege of Raultome would not happen until the 10th year of the Revolutionary war, but amongst those left in the Captiol accepted the Empire maybe lost but were going to die fighting.
The Siege of Raultome
By the 10th year of the Revolution, even hardline Loyalist cities and armies were switching allegainces to the Revolutionary Republic. Raultome was virtually alone in what Tarakot predicted the 'Final Victory'. Revolutionary forces outnumbered the Imperial Legions inside Raultome, but Raultome held the defensive advantage as Raultome was surrounded by massive walls which the Revolutionaries would have to take to enter the Capitol.
The Siege had begun with the Revolutionaries using its air support to distract the Imperials on the walls while the numbers on the ground attempted to take the walls. The Revolutionaries moved their armies into position with heavy cannons and started to open fire upon the main gates, while the Imperials struggled while fighting off air attack to fire upon the Revolutionaries on the ground. But it was too late by the time the Revolutionaries air forces were forced away as the Gates were breached.
Imperial Soldiers were already lined up behind the Gates as the Revolutionaries charged in with their tanks. Imperial Soldiers and tanks opened fire upon the Revolutionaries but they kept charging and the Imperial Soldiers still held steadfast. It lead to hand-to-hand combat including soldiers drawing their swords to engage the enemy while the Revolutionaries flooded into the city.
Emperor Adam I watched from his window at the Palace which oversaw the massive city, the Revolutionaries seemed unstoppable, the Imperial Forces were broken by the 13th Hours of the Seige as the remaining Loyalists blocked themselves into the Imperial Palace courtyard. Adam I entered the courtyard calmly exchanging glances with his exhausted soldiers, and one soldier said to the Emperor 'Sire, the Capitol is lost..the Empire is dead'. He said in response 'Maybe so, but we must ask ourselves, what defeat do you want? A Hopeless Defeat or 1 final stand, a Glorious end. You all said to me you would die for the Empire, then lets have a final charge'.
The Emperor's High Steward came out of the Stables on a steed and had with him, the Emperor's steed. Adam I mounted his steed and faced his soldiers 'who will fight with me in a final charge?' and a soldier replied 'Unto the end!' and the Soldiers cheered. Adam I drew his sword as did his High Steward, Maxwell Opster and they faced the Courtyard gates. 'Tarakot is in the City' said the Emperor in a low tone, 'Yes, Sire' responded Opster. 'Good, I have something to tell him..OPEN THE GATES!' yelled the Emperor.
'SOUND THE CHARGE!' shouted the Emperor and Lord Opster and a massive number of the remaining soldeirs drew horns and blew as loud as they could and the last of the Imperial Army charged. The Revolutionaries who became concerned when Hornd sounded and the ground shook. The Gates of the Courtyard opened and Adam I and the last of his army charged down the main highway opening fire on the Revolutionaries. An Officer further down saw this and spoke into a comm 'President Tarakot, the Imperials are charging' and Tarakot responded frantically 'SHOOT THEM!'. The Officer directed his men into a line and to prepare to open fire, but the Imperials were gaining at high speed as they cut down Revolutionary soldiers and as they did, Imperial citizens were running into the streets armed opening fire upon the Revolutionaries. The Revolutionaries began to shake, they were ordered to fire and they did so, and the shots hit many Imperials but they did not fall and kept charging to which one soldier exclaimed 'Impossible...' and to which his Officer replied 'Silence, fire at will!'but they did not, the Imperials were too close and the revolutionaries ran.
The Officer ordered them to stay, but was shot by an Imperial. Tarakot saw as lines of soldiers began running and more and more of Citizens joined the battle on the Emperor's side. Tarakot exclaimed to the General next to him 'Stop them! I'm getting to a safe distance' but after Tarakot left, the Revolutionary General formally surrendered to the Emperor. Adam I asked the General 'What is your name?' to which the General responded 'Arnold Turome, Sire'. The Emperor also asked '..and where do your loyalties lie now?' and Turome responded 'To you now, Sire. I see that no force in Altane can defeat you'. After hearing this Adam I gave him his sword back and said 'Then you'll need this to serve me and the Empire', Adam I then turned to Lord Opster and said 'Spread the world of our Glorious Victory here against all Odds' and then turned to his soldiers, including the Revolutionaries who were chanting 'Long live the Emperor'.
The Turn of the Tide
Tarakot fled back into Harnite after the defeat at Raultome, struggling to keep Forces and Cities under his control from hearing of the Imperial Victory. But many did when broadcasts of the Victory at Raultome was broadcasted by the Imperials. Many Cities and Armies switched their loyalties back to Adam I and swore again their Eternal Allegiance and Loyalty to Adam I and the Empire. The renewed Imperial Resolve decimated the Revolutionary armies on the field who believed their cause made them invincible soon felt defeat in all areas of the field.
The Lines were being quickly pushed back to Harnite, the home of the Revolution and Capitol of the Revolutionary Republic where Tarakot could no longer keep Armies and Cities in line as their old Imperial values soon set back in. Tarakot who often made appearances in public in demonstartion of victory and to keep the people on the road of the cause stopped making appearances and withdrew from public life. Who was sometimes reported to be ill and Reginald Diemil took over day-to-day affairs, but often Revolutionary media attempted to suppress these rumours to only further prove a detriment to the War Effort.
Essentially from then on Reginald Diemil became De Facto Head of State and Head of Government and was described by Imperial Media as a De Facto Military Dictatorship proving further why the people should not remain with the Revolutionary Republic. Protests began in Harnite demanding Tarakot make a Public appearance to prove he was still in control, he did so but the jesture rang useless as at the same time there was news that the Imperial Lines are now at Harnite.
The Surrender of Harnite
8 years after the Siege of Raultome, 18 years since the Revolution began, the Imperial Legions were finally at the foot of Harnite. As the Imperials marched ahead cautiously not risking anything could lead to defeat, a contigent of Cavalry road from the gates and addressed General Arnold Turome who was put in charge of the assault by Adam I as he proved his loyalty to Adam I in the assaults against the Revolutionaries since the Siege of Raultome. The Revolutionary Colonel who was leading the Contigent of Cavalry dismounted and presented his sowrd to Turome as he did, the Soldiers cheered a massive cheer to which the Revolutionary Colonel said 'Harnite is yours General'.
The Imperial Armies entered Harnite at the cheering and applauding of the people and welcoming of the former Revolutionary armies. Turome asked the Colonel 'Where is Tarakot and Diemil'. The Colonel replied 'They are still in the Count's Estate', meanwhile inside the Estate Tarakot and Diemil knew the army had just surrendered and were trying to think of an exit strategy but were soon burst in on by their own guards to which Tarakot responded by drawing his gun on Diemil and yelling 'Don't come any closer or Diemil dies!' but he soon dropped his weapon when struck from behind by another guard. Diemil although uninjured became confused as all had turned against him, the war was lost when it was it was so close to victory, and at the last moment Tarakot tried to use him as a hostage to which he spat on Tarakot for.
The Trial of Tarakot and Diemil
Tarakot and Diemil were brought to the Capitol to answer for their crimes in a massive televised trial to show the country the crimes of the Revolutionaries. During the trials, the case focused first on Tarakot's involvement, including evidence of his plans to start the Revolution, however Tarakot claimed they were fake in an outburst that had him warned that he maybe held in contempt for his behaviour. Then accounts of the execution of Nobles and Imperialists came up to which loyalists managed to film a few of them and the presentation of secret orders from Tarakot that ordered the executions. Tarakot's turn was over for now as it was Diemil's turn, but little did Tarakot know that Diemil made secret deals with the Imperial Prosecutors to be given a lesser sentence in exchange for turning on Tarakot during Trial to which he did with heart describing Tarakot as a 'Traitor to the Empire, to the Republic, to everyone!' and proving many of the allegations made against him.
The court after deliberating for a month declared both Louis Tarakot and Diemil guilty of treason, unlawful execution, mistreatment of Prisoners of War and so on. Followed by the Execution of Tarakot and Diemil was given 15 years in prison to which he was later pardoned after 6 years by Adam I. Diemil after being released from prison declared he would publicly take the Oath of Allegiance and Loyalty to the Empire, and did so and was broadcasted to the nation as the last of Revolutionaries reinstated their loyalty to Adam I and the Empire.
Aftermath
After the war, Adam I opened Altane to the world after most of its history being closed to the outside, describing foreign peoples as having similar traits to the Altanian people and not as bad as their first encounters in the past. Adam I also outlawed Executions and instead made the highest sentence for any crime to be 'Permanent Imprisonment, forced to do Hard Labour to make up for the damages to Society, and have no visitors for the duration'. Former Revolutionary General, Arnold Turome was made Supreme Marshal of the Imperial Forces in 1995 by Victor XX, Adam I's successor.
Adam I died during the War of Dreamsand was succeeded by his grandson Victor who's father, the late Crown Prince Maximillian died in the Revolution. During Victor XX's reign he reinstated the Imperial Era where the Holy Emperor reigned with Absolute power with the unanimous support of the people and the Imperial Chancellery.
